| Although I was born on the west coast of Ireland, I live in England, however a while back a close friend of mine invited me over to the homeland to celebrate his mothers 90th birthday, so I decided to make a holiday of it and went over for a couple of weeks. The wife myself and two other friends set off for Ireland via Holyhead, We agreed that I would drive to the port, and my wife would drive once we got to the other side, this allowed me to have a few drinks on the boat, once aboard and out to sea the bar opened and I went to get the drinks, there were four in all, and when I'd ordered the barman asked if I would like a tray, to which I replied "Jesus don't you think I've got enough to carry".We arrived in time for the do and the birthday celebrations went well and while I was there I bumped into an old friend and we got talking about old times and old friends and it came to light that another of my old friends had moved to Dublin so I got his address and the next morning we set of to the capital with the intention of looking him up, on the way I took a wrong turn and got lost, I drove around for a while until I came across a local shop and went inside to ask for directions, going to the counter and asked the lady "can you tell me the quickest way to Dublin" to which her reply was "are you going by car, or are you waiting for the bus" my reply was "I'm going by car" she just smiled and said "sure that's the quickest way", when I told the others we all had a good laugh and went on our way. |
