Languishing in the light of humanity and natural reality is harsh though and a fate I do not wish on anyone. However, as I constantly strive to hone my skills, increase my knowledge and expound upon the constantly changing landscape, I feel drawn as a moth to the flame by the ever increasing apathy and gullibility of the masses. Expand our horizons? YES! At the cost of our humanity? NO! Let us venture boldly into the unknown with courage and conviction, but do not let us loose sight of what really matters. We can always replace stuff, but cannot replace people. We must retain out unique identities, our connection to what is real, our basic desires for human contact during this process, but yes.......let us learn together for the common good and not the baser desires of the ignorant!
As my mind wanders down the years gone by, I'm reminded of things others brighter than my self stated that have withstood the tests of time.....which by the way, gives them more validity than if I had just spouted off. The first one is that ignorance can be overcome, but the ignorant MUST be willing to make an educated buying decision or choice of some kind that will lead them down the primrose path to intelligent bliss. Definition of Ignorance: The lack of knowledge or education. With today’s online, virtual, social-networked mentality, education as we knew it has ceased to exist. The classroom of today is a hodgepodge of cell phones, text messages, Googling, YouTubing and more lame-brained, half-baked methodologies that masquerade as education. As a former IT Instructor for several of our leading technical institutions, I find this to be an appalling state of affairs and in no way a viable substitute for a proper education. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stated that the mind is like an attic. You should only place what you need up there as a day will come that you need something, but you will be unable to find it because of all the worthless items you have stored there. We want virtual. We want 3D. We want...we want...we want! Gimme a break! Society has become splintered enough. The family unit is a farce. Human interaction starts with an on-line screening process. How are we to survive in this impersonal nightmare we have created in the name of technology, information sharing, etc? We won't! It's nice to have all these things available when needed but in all actuality, when exactly is that? Do we have the intelligence to discern between need and want? Considering what the liberal media presents daily and what the Internet allows without restriction, it's anybody's guess, so based on your point of reference or perspective, who knows! Meat puppet or informed individual? Spoiled brat or conscientious human? Take a deep breath and reflect on your current state of mind. Just how plugged in are you? Go out and get some fresh air, take a drive through the country, anything other than sit in front of your PC. Leave the cell phone at home! Turn off the music/DVD/etc and take in some of what has been around for centuries. Being human is not bad! Ignorance can be overcome!
