Choosing your niche The first and the most important thing one needs to consider while building a website is to decide the web site's niche. Niche is basically what your website is about. You must consider several factors while deciding your website's niche.The first thing is your interest on the selected topic or niche. This is very important because you can not work on a topic you are not interested in. Suppose you are interested in gardening, you would love to work on a website related to gardening rather than working on a website related to wrestling. At the same time you need to research your target audience and find out the topics they are interested in. This might take some time but it is worth spending some time on it. unique content Well this is the most important thing you need to have in your site to get steady traffic. You must have heard or read this famous phrase 'content is king'. This is 100% true. Imagine you are planning a trip to Mauritius, and you need to find out information about the hotel needs, budget etc. So you would be searching for a site that provides you information about different hotels in that region,their price ranges etc.You wouldn't want to visit or stay on a site that has some regular copy paste information in it. Same is the case with Internet users.They are always in quest of the information they need. They wouldn't stay a second longer in a website when they find out that it has nothing unique in it. Unique content plays a very crucial role in determining your web site's success . Search engine optimization or SEO as it is called is nothing but designing your site to be search engine friendly. You might ask why do we need to design our site to be search engine friendly? You may encounter two search engine submission options 1. Free submission 2. paid submission Free submission is nothing but submission of your web pages to search engines with out paying a penny. Some search engines might have restrictions on the number of pages you submit. So be careful in choosing the most important pages for submission. With paid submission you can index all the web pages you have paid for in the search engine. One advantage with the paid submission is that your web pages get indexed within a short and defined period. One important thing to remember is that your site doesn't rank well because you paid for your pages to get indexed in the search engine. Final and the most important step Don't relax!!
