For all the webmasters out there, you probably understand how important it is to have your web page indexed by Google. For those of you who aren’t webmasters, you still probably realize how important this is, as Google is one of the largest sources of traffic for people’s web pages. Every webmasters list of goals includes to be indexed on Google, since it is the largest search engine in the world.

Although, many webmasters run into a large problem. This problem is their web page not being indexed, or being indexed extremely slowly. Google has a bot (as do all search engines) which we call “spiders”. These spiders crawl through the web and grab content, and index it. Now, many people assume that the more content they add, with their specific keywords, the better they will rank. So what they do is go on the web, and add other peoples articles to their own web. This is a big no-no! Google detects this, and your page will not be indexed. They want unique content. Unique content will be indexed, especially when the right keywords are used. If you are caught doing so (copying articles) Google may sometimes flag your site, or just not send the “spiders” to it as much. Your best bet is to take a bit more time, and write your own articles. You can get information on the topic from the web, just be sure to put things into your own words.

Since the Google bot is so active, nowadays it is rare to find people who have trouble getting their web page indexed. Nonetheless, it still does happen. When it does, it could mean that Google has basically put a red flag on your site, therefore these “spiders” do not even visit your website. People in this situation after a while realize that no matter how much they advertise their website, it does not ever appear to get indexed. The only way around this is to submit a Reconsideration Request via Google Webmaster Tools. It is a very slow process, but nonetheless, a process worth the wait for webmasters.

Now, for those of you who are attempting to get your web page indexed, there are a number of ways to do so. You can enter your sitemap into Google Webmaster Tools (whom I mentioned before). Secondly, you can submit your web page to popular social networks, and the spiders will likely pick up your link. Thirdly, you can create a blog via your web page. Blogs are visited by spiders very frequently, and this will be a good way to have the spiders pick up your main web page. You can always remove the blog once the spiders find your website (if you hate blogging). Last of all, yet the most effective way, is to make posts in popular forums and include your URL. The more popular a site, the more the spiders visit it, thus increasing the chance of your web page being picked up by the spiders, and evidently, being indexed into Google. The general point is to get your web page out there. If your link is out there, it is bound to be located by Google. Keep in mind, this does not mean you should spam the WWW with your link. This will give your web page a bad reputation, or even get you a red flag from Google.

Indexing is not complicated, as long as you follow the simple steps. Be careful when choosing a domain name, as certain niches are more likely to not be indexed by Google. Get your web page out there so those spiders can find it!
