Many who go on weight loss programs are keen to learn how their body metabolism can be increased. This is because weight loss success also depends on metabolic activity and if this is sufficient active, your chances of success with weight loss through burning of fat are high. Here are a few things to understand about this.

It is often believed that starving is beneficial to success with weight loss. Actually this is far from the truth. When you starve your body gets the message that soon there will be no food coming and begins to accept the starvation message. To counteract the situation it starts to store fat for future use because it anticipates starvation and as a result instead of losing fat, you gain weight. Hence never believe that starving will help to lose body fat and weight. Instead work at increasing metabolic activity and better burning of fat.

The following facts will help you understand why.

1. Consume food within half-an-hour of walking:

Walking gives a kick-start to metabolic activity. So eat immediately and often after a walk. When you eat, remember to add foods that can provide energy throughout the day. Go for a breakfast that is replete with proteins, complex carbohydrates and a fair quantity of water.

2. Have small portions of food and eat often:

Ensure that the interval between meals or eating times is not more than four hours. The ideal interval is between 2-1/2 to 3 hours. Normally if you are used to eating 3 large meals a day, evenly distribute them into 5-6 meals a day. This will reduce the chances of your overeating when you are hungry, because you will be eating before you feel hungry.

3. Ensure that snacks are healthy:

Since you will have distributed huge meals into five to six during the day, ensure that you eat at least three of them with healthy snacks like peanuts or protein or even a cup of granola. Fruits too can be taken as snacks.

4. Remember the 80% rule:

Whenever you eat see that you do not overfill yourself. Eat just about 80% of your full capacity. You may take some time to achieve this, but once achieved your body will get used to the idea of eating a little less at each meal.

With this sort of diet structure losing substantial weight in a month’s time is possible. This is because with a high rate of metabolism your body remains constantly in a mode to burn calories even at times when you are not consuming food and even when your body is at rest or you are sleeping!

If you are unable to find someone to guide you with the formulation of a diet plan, with some trial and error you may be able to get an idea of how to kick-start your metabolism. If you can pay for a weight loss expert, with expert guidance you will be able to plan your meals and increase metabolic activity substantially enough to effect proper burning of fat and achieving desired weight loss.
