Reflexology-A Higher State Of RelaxationI recently found myself at the hands of a massage therapist skilled in the art of Reflexology. I had a one hour session at a local day spa and was pleasantly surprised at what a great experience I had. I was hesitant at first because I didn't know anything about reflexology other than it was a slighter deeper tissue rub with the rotating of joints and significantly more stretching than your old run of the mill massage. The massage table was heated and the bed felt fantastic. Only 15 minutes into my session I began to feel a sense of deep relaxation and an electric tingling sensation at the top of my head all the way to my toes. There was absolutely no pain or discomfort. The relaxation I felt was so much deeper than a regular massage and I noticed my breathing even became shallower as I let all of the weeks stresses just melt away. I was truly amazed that I was able to relax so deeply and would recommend reflexology to anyone. With more research I discovered that the tingling I was experiencing was actually nerve manipulation. There are certain spots located on the toes that correspond to different nerves in the upper body. These nerves can also stimulate blood flow to the eyes, ears, nose, throat, brain and scalp. It was unbelievable to me that temporary sustained pressure on certain parts of the body could relieve all of the body's stresses and place someone in the deepest state of relaxation than they have ever felt before. Reflexology is nothing new and the Japanese have used this ancient healing technique for centuries. It is important to find a licensed massage therapist who is skilled in the art of reflexology. This is a specialized skill and you can't just trust anyone to perform this type of rub. This type of rub can be especially helpful for arthritic patients who experience pain and stiffness on a daily basis. This is also recommended for people who experience migraines, insomnia and stress. Reflexology can rejuvenate and energize the entire body and soul this is why a lot of people include this as part of their alternative therapy against many debilitating conditions. It can be a great addition to holistic and herbal care treatments. Physical touch with the bone and joints and the energy that surrounds it can let the body unwind naturally and therein lies the secret. Letting the body release its own stress and centering in on the nerves that can affect them is what it's all about. Do your body a favor and treat yourself to a wonderful rub and experience the magic of reflexology. |
