There are certain activities which the body needs to achieve a vast range of movement, which is made easier by flexibility training and exercises. Joints and the surrounding muscles, used seldom, can enjoy only a limited range of motion or sometimes they become worse with time. With proper and regular training and exercise, the joints become more flexible and the surrounding muscles become strong to support every motion made by the joints.

Flexibility exercise and training also helps in providing balance to various muscle groups while performing exercise. The balance can be improved by regular flexibility exercises and stretching training. Here are certain benefits which are provided by flexibility training and exercise. They are:

Improves physical performance:- flexibility exercises help in improving the physical performance of a person by enhancing his range of motion. Regular physical training keeps the joints active and helps them make better movement day by day. Generally, the unused muscles become stiff over time when they are not used and thus, resulting in limitation of one movement. Flexibility and stretching exercises helps the muscles perform physical activity; making them more flexible and improve the physical performance of a person.

Reduces strains and soreness of muscles:- when the muscles are suddenly made to perform physical activity, they become sore and strained. Flexibility exercise and training helps in reducing the soreness and the strains from the muscles. Muscles usually respond better to high intensive activities and they are able to adapt quickly when it is performed on a regular basis. It is with the help of the stretching exercise that the muscles are able to increase their range of movement. It is through this process that the muscles are able to adapt to high intensive exercises and activities and in turn lessens the possibility of sore and strained muscles.

Improves blood circulation:- stretching exercises improves the muscles and also improves the blood circulation in them. Proper blood circulation helps the nutrients reach the tissues in an effective way. Improved blood circulation also nourishes the muscles. It also makes way for more oxygen in the muscles which act as fuel when the body goes into physical exertion.

Increases production of synovial fluid: - Synovial fluid is found in the joints which acts as a lubricant and reduces the rubbing of moving joints. Synovial fluid also helps in the transportation of nutrients in the tissues of the joints. One of the benefits of flexibility training is that it helps in the increased production of this fluid in the joints.

Most of the people do not bother to include stretching and flexibility training in their exercise programs and thus end up obtaining strain and soreness in the muscles. Therefore it is important to include them in any fitness program.
