Mesothelioma is a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos and is now the subject of numerous lawsuits across America and indeed the world. For decades, workers have been exposed to harmful asbestos and it is only years later that they suffer the consequences once it is too late to do anything about it. Many have already died as a result of their asbestos related jobs.
No amount of compensation can do anything to resolve their particular situation! However, their families are still pursuing lawsuits for compensation as are countless ex-workers who are still alive and suffering from the effects of the resultant cancer.
Retrospective lawsuits are now a worldwide phenomenon as lawyers and attorneys reveal to uninformed people the causes and effects of Mesothelioma. Whether the sufferers of this type of cancer are now dead or alive is of no consequence when it comes to seeking compensation form employers who failed to protects their workforce. Unbelievably, exposure to asbestos is still an issue in the workplace in spite of the health and safety regulations governing the disposal of this substance. The problem stems from the fact that many old building are being demolished or renovated, buildings that are loaded with asbestos. Contractors should be fully aware of the requirement for asbestos removal and ensure that this is done in accordance with current legislation. Unfortunately, there are always going to be contractors trying to cut corners in order to save a few dollars, failing to equip their employees properly and exposing them to the dangers inherent in asbestos. Considering the results asbestos exposure produces, this kind of irresponsible action on the part of contractors is truly criminal. It is understandable to a degree that historical cases of Mesothelioma should occur due to ignorance on the part of employers and employees. There is no excuse now for business owners to be messing with the dangers of asbestos and risking the lives of others for financial profit. |
