Bell's Palsy occurs at any age, and it is fairly common.  A middle ear infection or a sore throat sometimes seems to occur with it.  It is a disorder of the facial nerve, usually only temporary, in which the muscles it controls on one side of the face become paralyzed. There are two facial nerves, one on each side, that run from the brain through a small hole in the skull just behind the ear. Though it is disfiguring it is not a dangerous condition.  The condition usually comes on suddenly, often over night, and it is sometimes accompanied by pain either in the ear or on the affected side of the face.  The characteristic symptom of the disorder is weakness of one side of the face.  The corner of the mouth droops, it may become impossible to close one eye, and facial expressions such as smiles are distorted since there is decreased movement of the muscle from forehead to mouth on the paralyzed side of the face.  The main physical risk is irritation of or injury to the eye.  The eye does not close properly, so it is exposed to dust, and it may become abnormally dry.  The eye may also develop ulcers if it is left unprotected.

Professional help: Treatment with adrenal corticosteroids or corticotropin may be recommended by physicians in the hope of speeding recovery.

*Alternatively the subject could examine the use of  Tian Ma Wan patent formula especially effective for Bell's Palsy, post stroke paralysis of the face, arm or legs.
Also: Da Huo Luo Dan

*Although many patent formulas have been used for over 1,000 years, they are suggestive only and are not meant to replace medical advice or consultation.
