How often have you tried to pull out a strip of aluminum foil or plastic wrap only to have the roll jump out of the box? Some times it falls to the floor while you are holding the end thus it has to be rewrapped. Holding the top down helps but this makes it more difficult to pull out the wrap.

It seems that for an untold number of years the manufacturers of the boxs containing the rolls knew about the problem and provided a solution. The problem is no one told us.

On the end of most boxes of wrap is little tab that reads “Push Tab To Secure Roll” or some similar verbiage. Each end has one and if you push those tabs in as suggested your problems of pulling out the wrap without pulling out the roll should be over.

This is not necessarily true with every box of wrap. Some are now coming with a plastic holder which makes it difficult to remove the roll if you want to take it out for some reason. So when you buy aluminum foil, plastic wrap, or some other kitchen wrap check the end of the box before you make the purchase.
