I am sure that you must have seen a stun gun at least once. And if you have not, you must have watched movies where the characters use stun guns. The Stun Gun is a wonderful weapons of self defense. However, how the stun gun works is a question that makes many ponder on.

Isn't it wonderful that such a small device can leave an attacker helpless and hence, save the life of the holder from the attacker? And it is really very interesting to know how this small stun gun is able to immobilize the attacker. Due to the small size and the immense capability of immobilizing the attacker without causing a permanent damage to him, the stun gun can be termed as a result of great technological advancements.

If you carefully look around at the people around you and talk to them, you will come to know that there are many people who carry stun guns with them. Keeping a stun gun with them gives them a sense of safety. The stun gun is a really great tool of self defense that is used by the police, the army men as well as the regular people.

Though the stun gun can be lethal in some cases, killing someone is not the main purpose of the stun gun. The stun gun was designed to offer protection to the holder by temporarily leaving the attacker immobile. It was not originally designed to cause permanent damage to the attacker.

It is argued by many that the stun gun is not a perfect tool. But, it is to be noted that electricity can kill someone and if not so, it can at least severely hurt the person. Even in other cases, stun gun is a very important life saving tool that can be used against an unsuspecting attacker.

It is to be kept in mind that whenever electricity hits a person, it causes trouble to him. Though not severe in all cases, there are some cases where the person is seriously hurt. The benefit of using the stun gun is that the stun gun delivers a very small dose of electric current to the victim and hence, the stun gun does not prove to be lethal for the attacker. The stun gun just causes some temporary problems to the attacker.

Our body works on electric impulses. These signals are sent by your brain to the different parts of your body instructing them to do a certain job. What the stun gun does is that it takes over these currents and hence, immobilizes the person. The stun gun leaves the nervous system of the attacker useless.

The stun gun uses a low amp of electrical current along with a higher voltage. This results in low intensity of the current. Thus, the current does not give intense problems to the attacker. The pressure from the current immobilizes the attacker though. All these qualities make the stun gun a safe tool to use on the attacker. Using the stun gun does not leave any permanent damage to the attacker.

As you already know, the body works on the electrical impulses sent by the brain through the nervous system. Hence, when a stun gun is pushed against the body of the attacker, the stun gun sends an electrical charge through the body of the person. This electrical charge running through the body of the person confuses him. The stun gun disables the nervous system of the attacker. This in turn, immobilizes him and the attacker is sent into a short term spasm. This gives the victim enough time to get away from the attacker.
