There is a new Sacramento Recycling program in town, and given the economy, it seems poised to dominate a quiet market.
As the economy continues to slide downward many people are looking for ways to save money and make money. I myself have seen everything from people who were former employees of fortune 100 companies offering to mow my lawn, to an influx in the amount of online business eBay and Craigslist have seen. I even have a lady now who makes a different pie a week and brings it by the house warm and mouthwatering.
Recently, I got a simple, cheaply made flyer with a pig on it offering to pick up my recycling for me and partner up with me. Now first i have to admit I am one of the Sacramento residences who simply puts all of my recyclables into the the recycle bin and consider that the end of my duty. Turns out I'm not alone. Most of my neighbors do the same and when you think about it, we are throwing money down the drain to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Now, SetItAside has come along and offered to take Sacramento to the next level. Their Sacramento curbside recycling program is pretty easy and straightforward. They provide you with bags for you to put your bottles and cans in. Once every two weeks they pick it up and take it back to their Sacramento recycling facility, sort it out, weigh it, and then call around to Sacramento recyclers to try to find the best price.
On a side note, I thought you always got the same price, but apparently not. I called two locations myself and got two completely different prices. So I guess it gives them a bit of leverage when they can team up multiple homes worth.
Anyway, once you have accumulated only $15.00 in recyclables, they mail you out a check.
So no extra steps on my part, and instead of giving my money away, I'm getting paid? I will be keeping a close eye on these guys.
