Resumes are one of the most important things in landing any kind of job. It is one of the first impressions of you the employer has if considering you, and the most important way to get a job if applying online. To write a good resume, there are some things you most always do. For starters, write like you know what you are doing (this goes for interviews too), don't seem uneasy or unsure. Be confident in your capabilities. Also, don't underestimate. List all of your achievements and jobs, no matter how big. You will think you will over put things, but sometimes more is better. Just try and stay in a 2 page max boundary, unless told otherwise, since every job is different. A big thing when writing a resume is spelling errors. No decent employer will hire anyone with multiple grammatical errors, or someone who does not know English. If you can't spell check or are bad at grammar, have a friend look it over twice for you. In addition, get a few letters of recommendations. Letters of recommendations can go a long way. They basically say, "I vouch for this person and he/she does a good job." You don't have to get the person to write one from scratch, good employers always have a template they just print out, but good employees have one too, just in case. Be sure you write clear too, would you want your employer questioning what you wrote before you even got the job? It is also recommended you give basic information and payment you would like. It is better to say payment in person, and go for the amount that will best fit your needs, but if you must write it, include it on your resume. Another important thing is updating/ distributing your resume. You have to always have an updated resumed on you when applying for a job. You never know who will pop into your life when you don't have a resume. It is important to keep reminding yourself of your abilities and that you will get a job. To do this, you may want to "Dress for success." Even if you are unemployed, dress like you are going to an office. You won't imagine how much good it will do for yourself esteem, waking up every day getting ready to go to work, because if you have no work, finding a job is your work. People will come up to you and comment on your clothes if you are dressed well enough. |
