Alright Biz.  Let’s see what I can do.

Paid performance campaigns were not always a bad concept.  In fact who didn’t like the idea that it didn’t matter where your banner was as long as you only had to pay when someone actually visited your site.  When, what are known as “Premium Clicks” were no more than a dollar or two for companies that generally pulled thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars in on each sale, a 1% conversion was still very profitable.

Sadly though, all good things must end and this was the same fate with paid performance.  As more and more businesses are drawn by the allure of paid performance the bidding rates increased until it became nearly impossible for anyone to get the number one ranking without losing more of their profits than was truly feasible for anyone who wasn’t already a big player.

Then bad went to worse, websites jumped on board with placing banners on their sites and were told ways to make millions, abuse was rampant and the people who were trying to gain honest business watched their conversion rates plummet as more and more abuse took place.  People began leaving the PPC game and companies who were losing money turned around and did the only thing they could to try to make up for the loss, they lowered the percentage they were paying to people who were hosting their ads.  This turned off many people with legitimate sites who realized that 200 clicks to pull in $1.20 in some cases was pure insanity.  So many quality advertising sites pulled away and began selling their own space.

So we are in the middle of a full circle.  Now you have the complete ability to promote your website and target your demographic.  At the same time, websites are encouraged once again to not farm out garbage websites to fake clicks or falsify traffic.  On both sides the option is cheaper as more money goes directly between two or three smaller hands.  It’s like buying your fruit at a small produce stand rather than the mega-mart.  Yes, you have some more work to do, but the end result is often cheaper and better.

Because I want a sponsor, as do all of the writers here in SayItyAloud, I will use this website as an example.  An advertiser can come in and find an article directly relating to their demographic and fully take that entire page for however long the article is up for less money than they are probably spending right now on ppc campaigns.  50% of that money goes right to the writers who are motivated to write more quality articles.  Well for $67.50 a page if the article is only one part that is good pay for a writer who can write four or five articles a day.

Benefit to Advertisers + Direct payment for quality work+ no monthly fees = a pretty good combination.

So if you want more information on advertising on SayItAloud.com follow the sponsor’s link up top.  For other writers reading this, put the feed for both parts on your blogs or whatever you want.

Hope this lived up to your standards Biz.
