"Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus
and the Gays came to live in San Francisco"
Heard Around
The Entertainment Industry has iniciated the season of awards and las Sunday January 25th we were able to watch the Awards nominated and given from actors to actors on the Screen Actors Guild Award.
And I was intrigued on the conception of what are expected from a Lead role in a movie from the two genders, remarking the eternal separation and differentiation of being a man and being a human. If you saw the televised event you can agree with me on how even in a profession where they all call themselves actors, wether if it's male or female.
This is What I witnessed about the principal awards of the night, besides of the overall cast.
Ladies first! Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role
One of the most expected moments on all this kind of awards are of course the ones delivered for the Lead role characterization and this night was not the exception. The Nominations were made and we were offered with a short clip of the performance of the five nominated Female Actors in their respective movies:
ANNE HATHAWAY for her role as Kym  on the movie "RACHEL GETTING MARRIED"
ANGELINA JOLIE for her role as Christine Collins on the movie "CHANGELING"
MELISSA LEO for her role as Ray Eddy on the movie "FROZEN RIVER"
MERYL STREEP for her role as Sister Aloysius Beauvier on the movie "DOUBT"
KATE WINSLET for her role as April Wheeler on the movie "REVOLUTIONARY ROAD"
We all know the other didn't had a chance against Merryl Streep because since her youth she had to fill with good acting skills the lack of voluptuose beauty other artist have. So she just have become better and better on her profession as an actor.
But what I want you to remember is this: the flashes presented of each performance. What I saw? Four of them crying on tears and the other on a explosion of rage (the "not greatest living actress" Merryl Streep, as she said when see accepted the award). Well... keep in your memory what the members of the SAG presented as an outstanding performance of a Female Actor.
Gentlemen: Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role
Then we were offered with the nominees on the Macho Men:
RICHARD JENKINS for his role as Walter Vale on the Movie "THE VISITOR"
FRANK LANGELLA for his role as Richard Nixon on the Movie "FROST/NIXON"
SEAN PENN for his role as Harvey Milk on the Movie "MILK"
BRAD PITT for his role as Benjamin Button on the Movie "THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON"
MICKEY ROURKE for his role as Randy on the Movie "THE WRESTLER"
I guess the decision was harder choosing the Winner, and may be the member of SAG decided it was time after four nominations and no winnings to reward Sean Penn with his first Award on this cathegory. Well done by the way.
But my point goes to the clips presenting a few seconds of the performance of the five nominees, wich was totally different of the Female Actors: All the five of them were on a very contented and sober scene without any exaltation of emotions.
It seems to me like the women need to bring the tears and yellings to their character to be considered good actresses and the men need to be so serious to be part of the Elite of good actors.
"Why so Serious?" As the past Heath Ledger said bringing to life his character of "The Joker" in the Dark Knight. (by the way, he won the Award for the aoutstanding Performance by a Male Actor on a supporting role). Why are not the expectations the same when they decide to call themselves actors no matter the gender, instead of acotr and actresses?
I agree with Sean Pean whe he accepted the award and said: “As actors, we don’t play gay, straight. We don’t play any of these kinds of people. We play human beings".
It's just courious how was represented in images a distinction between Female Human Beings and Male Human Beings. We say we are modern and liberal in this country and in the other countries in develpment (not anymore known as the 3rd world) there are  very chauvinist cultures.
But once my sister made notice: just see all the cartoons and tv shows from America and you will find the woman in the kitchen: flinstones, jetsons, dinosaurs, etc.
And even now we could noticed in the idea of what makes a good female actor and a good male actor.
May be is because not all the movies of the world are about an Erin Brocovich. But just look at the real world and you will find more males whinning for any illness than the women, they can even fight against the illness to become a Miss America, or to close some multimillionaire contract in any company.
Yes, we are different from women, and I totally love those differences. I just say: Let's be congruents with the thoughts and ideals we spread over the four winds.
And we all going to be winners.
