Cookie has a new home. I cried. It had to be. She deserved to have a one on one relationship. Cookie is a black Chihuahua dog. About 2 years old the Vet said. We found her, she was so shy and very underweight. I did not know how much a Chihuahua bonds to one person and will not be happy unless actually touching that person. It was cute, at first. I got her on a great diet, some basic shots and a quick bath. She was so sweet, at first. My husband was tolerant of her as she tended to bark at shadows and things we never saw. It progressed for several months until she started getting possessive. The more she became comfortable in our home, the more she made up her mind that, I was to be the chosen one. I was flattered, my husband was upset. Oh not because of jealousy over Cookie choosing me, but because Cookie decided no one, and she meant no one would get next to me. Now, my husband and I have been married since 81, and he decided he came first. The line was drawn! Five black pounds of teeth and attitude vs a grown adult in his 50's, who reminded Cookie often, who bought her her dog food. Cookie could of cared less who bought the food that was in her bowl. She just ate it along with the other two dogs we have. About a week ago, hubby wanted to kiss good night, leaned over the book I was reading , and got a nip on the nose. I, trying hard not to chuckle, knew it was the end of Cookie living with us. She never even got a good bite in. The next day he said nothing to me, that was loud and clear in my ears. I started hunting for a new home. I did weigh it out though, married since 81 vs a stray dog who loves me. There was no choice, OK, for a few seconds 81 seemed long time ago, hehehehe. I placed an ad on Craigslist, talked to a few who wanted a picture, then this really nice lady contacted me. She and her sister live together in an apt and she wanted something to love!!! Ching Ching Cookie needs someone to love, worship and die protecting should need be. Last night hubby leaned over for a kiss good night after first feeling around my body for a four legged lump. I reminded him that Cookie had a new home. I saw I was back in his favor, we kissed, and he rolled over to go to bed. I smiled, thanked God for Cookies new life, and turned out the light. Whispering goodnight, Cookie, enjoy your new life.
