I have always loved the show the Dog Whisperer. What power to control all breeds of dogs and humans. HA! Anytime that show is on, you can count on me watching. There is something great to see pet owners amazed that their "bad" animal can be good. Cesar Millan's show is a great example of how to train your dog.
Now, dog training had come to me very naturally. I have only had a handful of dogs in my life but each dog was well trained and loved. Even a Siamese cat named "Tom" had been trained to fetch little balls! He was truly amazing. My dog Maya knows she has it good here. She can sit, shake and jump up. She also loves to go along side me when we go bike riding! Her tolerance for my son is better than mine at times. My family knows my love for dogs. Anytime we have guests over, they are amazed to see how tame and easy going she is. Then my company reminds me that I take her for granted. Even the non-dog lovers want to take her home. Animals in general are such wonderful companions. But dogs truly understand unconditional love. When I look in my dog's eyes, her tail starts wagging and she instantly comes over to me. Just like when certain children come over they completly get attached to Maya when they are here. Some of these kids have never encountered a tame, friendly dog. What a beautiful thing to watch the love that gets poured out by their little souls. So, I think about Mr. Milan and his show....and wish I was a long lost relative of his, just so I can go to his dog rehabilitation center and work around all those dogs. I'd love to learn more about different breeds and their behaviors first hand. |
